Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This represents his initial trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His defensive strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional victory, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
